Being heavily involved in racing at a club level is where Mark's passion for motorsport began.  Race Fuels Pty Ltd was founded in January 2003. With the intention to provide branded fuels to motor racing with the highest possible service level.

Fuel: A Proud Heritage

It comes as little surprise for those who know the Tierney family that Mark, Haydn and Gary's passion for cars and motorsport has translated into a business now recognised as Australia's highest volume seller of packaged fuels for racing.

Fuel has been a focus for the family for three generations. As the Second World War ended, Mark’s Grandfather, Ron Tyson established Tyson’s fuel at Moorabin Airport. This company still runs today as Tyson’s Fueling Service Pty Ltd. In 1985 Mark’s father Gary undertook an ambitious business enterprise, the Shell distributorship for regional Victoria. Running Race Fuels Pty Ltd has provided an ideal platform for Mark, Haydn and Gary to work together for the first time.

Mixing Business with Pleasure

In an attempt to find a balance between the demands of business, enjoying his limited spare time and staying in touch with the needs of today’s racers. Mark continues to enjoy motorsport at a competitive level. In 2003 Mark Tierney became the youngest ever navigator to win the Targa Tasmania Platinum Trophy.  Competing is the best way to understand the needs and expectations of our customers. A regular club racer, Mark also enters a number of proffessional events such as the Winton Six Hour, Phillip Island Six Hour, Mallala Six Hour, Duttons Rally Victoria and the Porsche Mount Buller Sprint.

Competing in Gravel Rally for the first time in 2004 as a navigator for rising rally star Ivan Thompson in a 1995 Subaru Impreza STI was an excellent opportunity for Mark to experience the off road side of motorsport while gaining further experience and knowledge of gravel rallying which is a very important market for Elf Racing Fuels.

Experiencing Tarmac Rally from the competitor's viewpoint is also important to Race Fuels Pty Ltd. To ensure that we know how to best serve the competitor Mark keeps active competing. Co-driving for the "International Racing Car Driver" Greg Muller for the 2006 Mount Buller Sprint and 2006 Rally Tasmania, helps us understand Tarmac Rally from within. Control Fuel Supply 

The need for 98 RON 'pump' fuel for major motorsport events and national racing categories has lead to Race Fuels Pty Ltd tackling the control fuel market. In 2007 Race Fuels Pty Ltd supplied the Bathurst 12 Hour race, Carrera Cup and V8 Ute championships. Whilst the supply of Elf racing fuel is a major focus for Race Fuels Pty Ltd, control fuel is a growing market which requires the passion, interest and skills provides by Race Fuels Pty Ltd.
