Why you should race with Elf Methanol

22 December 2005

Elf Australia has recieved a number of queries recently regarding our methanol product. This article may answer some of the questions you may have...

Elf Methanol is only available in 200litre drums.
The price per drum is $230.00

This price is higher than other brands of methanol, this is why:

Elf Methanol is 99.9% pure, like all Elf racing fuels, Elf Methanol is produced specifically for racing applications.

Competitors need to be aware that many different varieties of methanol are used and sold in Australia for different applications. Outside of racing, there is little demand for 99.9% pure methanol.

Each and every batch of Elf Methanol must pass a stringent testing process before it released to the end user for sale.

It is simple: if the Elf methanol is not 99.9% pure, we will not sell it to you.

The testing process for Elf Methanol is expensive and takes time, for this reason the Elf methanol maybe more expensive than lesser quality methanol.

It is Elf’s commitment to quality that assured Elf as the official supplier of methanol race fuel to the 2005 Lexmark Indy 300.

In Australia, Elf’s range of race fuels are relied upon throughout all levels of motorsport, on two and four wheels, ranging from serving as control fuel suppliers in championships such as the Globalstar Australian Rally Championship and the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship to distributing fuel to individual competitors at club level events.

Internationally, Elf is active in top-level motorsport through its wide ranging group of successful relationships, including with the Renault Formula 1 team, with Citroen and Peugeot in the World Rally Championship through Total branding and on two wheels supplying fuel to teams such as Honda NRC and Yamaha in MotoGP.

It is this type of track record, coupled nearly forty years of experience and knowledge gained from all manner of motorsport disciplines that has positioned Elf as a market leader in motoring fuels, lubricants and oils.

Feedback given to Elf Queensland from Cosworth after the 2005 Lexmark Indy 300:

Regarding the most recent Champ Car event at Surfers Paradise. I wanted to take minute to thank you and your people for supplying our Cosworth engines with clean fuel! Fuel condition has, at times, been an issue with our engines. With that said we currently run six separate fuel filters on a Champ Car. With that many filters, we still have had issues in the past with contamination problems. I appreciate the effort your people did in Surfers for us. I'm happy to report, fuel contamination was not an issue I had to contend with at Surfers!
